How to Make an Appointment
To make an appointment to visit the school, or to arrange to receive information, please call or email the school at (412) 766-3815 or email us at renee@glenmontessori.org. Information about The Glen is available to any interested persons upon request.
Application Process
The application process consists of several steps:
Step 1 - initial registration of your child
Step 2 - tentative enrollment
Step 3 - final enrollment.
While we do consider admission of older children who may or may not have had previous Montessori experience, in order to achieve and maintain a proper age balance of 3- through 6-year-old children in our classroom, we prefer to accept children who will be between the ages of 2 years 10 months and 3 years 10 months by September 1 of the school year.
Step 1: Initial Registration
Parents are encouraged to make an appointment to visit the school before registering their children for enrollment. During this visit, parents may observe all three of our classrooms, tour the school grounds, and speak to our administrator. Visits typically last from 20 to 45 minutes. Upon the completion of a visit, you will receive a Registration and Admission Form. If you choose not to visit and wish to register your child after reviewing the information packet that was initially sent to you, contact the school and this form will be mailed to you. The Registration and Admission form is designed to obtain not only basic, but also some more in-depth information about your child to allow us to get to know him/her more quickly. Your child will be registered with the school when we receive this admissions form along with a non-refundable $50 processing fee. Decisions for enrollment at this point are based on the availability of space in your child’s age range. Siblings of current students have first priority for openings. Parents will be notified of our tentative enrollment decision by March 1st.
Step 2: Tentative Enrollment
Upon notification of tentative enrollment, you will be asked to confirm your child’s enrollment by signing the Conditional Enrollment Notification letter and submitting a $200 deposit within ten (10) working days. This letter will confirm your interest in enrolling your child and will reserve a space for him/her.
Step 3: Final Enrollment/Informal Classroom Evaluation
Final enrollment will be established after your child’s level of readiness is evaluated by our Educational Directress. These evaluations take place between the end of April and mid-May for a September enrollment. You will be asked to bring your child to the school where he/she will visit the classroom, meet the Directress and work with learning materials. Final enrollment notification will take place within a few days of this evaluation and will be accompanied by a Tuition Contract to be signed and returned to The Glen within ten (10) working days. A fully signed copy will be returned to you.
