The Parents Association
One of the many points of pride at The Glen is the parent involvement
in nearly all facets of its operations. Whether on the
Board of Directors
or on one of the many Parents Association committees,
The Glen provides a rich environment for each parent to become involved.
The Parents Association provides an easy way for the parents
to volunteer their talents to the school and to enrich their children’s
education. It also fosters ways for families to socialize and acquire
knowledge about The Glen and the Montessori teaching method.
Parent involvement is not only encouraged, it is a vital part
of our school’s functioning. There are currently six active committees
of the Parents Association that enable involvement from home or
at the school, whichever best suits the individual preference of
the parents.
Without the involvement of parents through the Parents Association
as well as the teamwork between the parents, teachers and staff,
The Glen would not be all that it is today!
Building for the Future
Our School was founded on a powerful premise: Children should
have at their disposal a prepared environment in which they are
free to reveal their needs and tendencies and where there is a choice
of tasks which correspond to these needs. In a nutshell, this is
Maria Montessori’s “Secret Of Childhood” and the basis for her life’s
work in education. The micro-experience of the Montessori environment
gives children the tools and understanding they need to live in
a complex world and to relate harmoniously to others; to be thinking
and caring human beings. Therefore, the aim of offering Montessori
education to more children across a wider age span is one of great
urgency and importance.
Though best known for her work with 3-6 year old children, Dr.
Montessori’s theories and methods are applicable to all stages of
childhood and adolescence: indeed, there are Montessori curriculums
available for toddlers, elementary school and beyond. Here, at The
Glen, it is our sincere wish to expand our program to meet the needs
of children along a broader age continuum. Each year, The Glen receives
numerous inquiries regarding Montessori Toddler and Elementary classes
and it is into these areas that we hope to extend our current program.
In an effort to provide expanded Montessori programs to surrounding
communities, The Glen has implemented a Capital Campaign through
which we hope to raise the necessary funds for a well-planned and
successful expansion of our current programs. The Capital Campaign
is a priority for The Glen’s board and staff as we plan for the
future of the school and work for the furtherance of Montessori
Education.
